Brown Sugar set to dazzle Jamaica Caribbean Fashion Week 2006
Brown Sugar Inc St Kitts is set to take Jamaica by storm, in their first appearance At Caribbean Fashion Week 2006. Designer Judith Rawlins is set to unveil her 2007 collection at the elite of Fashion shows in the Caribbean “Jamaica Caribbean Fashion Week 2006”. This is going to be an unveiling like no other from Brown Sugar, expect nothing less than creativity fused with a splash of vivacious elegance depicting colours of a pulsating Caribbean mood.
The 5th annual Caribbean Fashion Week 2006’ (CFW 2006) is scheduled to be held from June 7-11 at National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston,Jamaica under the management of Pulse innovation, Pulse CEO Kingsley Cooper.
In a release of May 15th 2006, the CEO stated that “Pulse had propelled the Caribbean fashion industry since its launch in 2001 and added that CFW 2006 will enjoy increased visitor arrivals as well as wider commercial participation, a permanent new CFW store for retail and wholesale buyers, more after-parties and special events and a surprise ending.”
Kingsley also clarified that more than 100 designers have applied for participation in this year's event which is likely to be reduced by Pulse to around 50 collections with between 20 and 30 designers showing on the main runway. Whereas others will show on a specially erected runway in the exhibition hall, which will not only feature designer booths but will also include displays by related interests, tourism and commercial sponsors.
Confirmed Caribbean designers participating are include Uzuri, Bill Edwards, Cooyah, Brown Sugar, Meiling, Biggy, Wright Style, Yardmanstyle, Rykii de Jude, Lubica, Nefertari, Moncrieffe, Zero Gravity, Kimanee Wilson, Atelier Doré, Jendayzi, Sean Dixon, Kenneth Edgar, The Cloth, Mutamba and Claudia Pegus.
Caribbean Fashion Week has established as an important part of the international fashion landscape and has been hailed by no less a publication than British Vogue as an important new trend in world fashion.
